Outreach Mobile Engagement (HOME)
HOME is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral mobile response team with specialized training to improve the health outcomes and health equity of marginalized individuals in London who are experiencing homelessness, are insecurely housed, or are rostered with the London InterCommunity Health Centre. HOME provides primary care, harm reduction, support with substance use, basic needs, and wrap-around care services directly to individuals where they are at.
Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care (CPLTC)
CPLTC is a non-emergent mobile response team with specialized training designed to work in collaboration with a patient's primary care providers to provide a range of community-based primary care services in the comfort of the patient's home. Community paramedics are authorized to perform a range of services outside their traditional role under the direction of a Medical Director, delegated by the patient's primary care physician.
All Terrain Vehicle (Gator)
Operations deploy an all-terrain vehicle (Gator) that is capable of accessing patients in areas that are not accessible by ambulance. This unit has been critical in bringing paramedics to sick and injured patients that are off the roadways and into areas that would otherwise only be accessible by foot. This unit has been deployed through parks, trails, and conservation areas across the City of London and the County of Middlesex.
Emergency Support Unit Bus (ESU-Bus)
The London Transit Commission played a crucial role in the creation of this special unit and continues to provide support for the unit. This special unit was designed from a City of London transit bus and has been converted to be able to respond to special events (such as during the COVID-19 pandemic) and to mass casualty and large-scale events.
The bus can operate as a forward operating or command post or be utilized for multiple patients. The ESU-Bus has been actively deployed to several major incidents such as the structure collapse on Teeple Terrace, and the student unsanctioned street even on Broughdale Ave (FOCO)
MLPS Special Operations Bike Unit
The Special Operations Bike Unit consists of paramedics with advanced training that allows them to provide patient care in unique settings. The Bike unit is positioned such that it can provide rapid response and critical patient care to patients in crowded and congested settings.
High-Risk Response Team (HRT)
The High-risk Response Team (HRT) is equipped with advanced protective equipment and training allowing them to service calls in high-risk environments. This specialty team was instrumental in treating and responding to critical patients during the overwhelming waves of COVID-19 and provided a critical response to patients in the GTA during the IMS decanting of critical patients. This team of exceptionally dedicated paramedics played a tremendous role during an unprecedented time.
MLPS Logistics Team
The MLPS Logistics team collaborates with one another to meet the needs of frontline staff, Operation Superintendents, and administration staff, the team assists in assuring that our Paramedic service continues to meet the needs of our communities. The Logistics team ensures all daily functions run smoothly and efficiently. Their main focus is to respond to operational requests as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Whatever a paramedic needs, from linen and batteries to medications, defibrillators, and vehicles, all supplies are managed by this group.
MLPS Schedulers
The schedulers support our 911 system, Community Paramedics, Logistics Team, and Education department for training.
MLPS Education Team
The superintendent oversees all aspects of education, training research, and development at MLPS. The Paramedic Educator is heavily involved in many aspects of Recruitment, Orientation, Mentorship, and continuing education material. We are excited to have Patty's input and expertise in MLPS Education.
